Story

Mario gets a letter which says: Dear Mario, please come to the castle. I've
baked a cake for you. Yours truly, Princess Peach.
How exiting! Mario runs of to the castle, but when he enters is a gruff
voice says: Welcome. No one's home! Now scram! And don't come back! Gwa, ha, ha. In this
game mario looks for power stars and uses them to enter locked doors.

Gameplay

Unlike other mario games this one is 3d. Mario can defeat enemies not just
by jumping on them, but also by kicking and punching them. You get power
stars by finding them in various levels and by beating bosses.

controls

use the control stick to Move Mario/cursor, climb poles, angle camera in second-person mode and fly (when wearing the Wing Cap)
press A to jump, swim and confirm
press B to punch, kick, dive, grab, throw or cancel
press Z to crouch
press left or right to move camera
press up to Zoom in or enter second-person mode (which allows the player to look around)
press down to zoom out
press R to toggle camera mode
press start to Pause the game, show Power Star list (when in the castle) or pause menu (when in courses)
While running, use the control stick to quickly turn around + A to do a sideways somersault
upon hitting a wall, press A to do a wall jump
jump and then upon landing jump to do a double jump
jump and then upon landing jump and then jump again to do a triple jump (while running) or lift of(wearing wing cap)
press A and B to do a jump kick(from a standstill) or midair dive(while running)
press B three times in a row to do a punch punch kick
while in midair, press Z to do a ground pound
press Z and use the control stick to crawl
press Z and a to do a backwards somersault(from a standstill) or long jump(while running)
press Z and B to do a Sweep Kick (from a standstill) or a Slide Kick (while running)

Item	Description
coin	A regular coin found by defeating most enemies, out in the open or in yellow blocks. Restores 1 point of Mario's health meter when collected.
red coin	A red version of a coin. Each worth 2 coins. Found out in the open. Collecting all 8 of them reveal a power star. Restores 2 point of Mario's health meter when collected.
blue coin	A blue coin. Each are worth 5 coins. Found by defeating some enemies or by pounding on a blue coin switch. Restores 5 point of mario's health meter.
spinning heart	A heart that spins when mario goes through it. It will restore all points of mario's health meter.
1-UP mushroom	A green Spotted mushroom that will give mario and extra life.
koopa shell	A shell that is found in a yellow block or by defeating a koopa troopa. Mario can ride it for a short time and defeat enemies by running them over.
power star	The main object of the game. Collecting them will allow mario to open up star doors.
wing cap	Found in a red block and lets mario fly for a short time by doing a triple jump.
vanish cap	Found in a blue block. Turns mario invisible for a short time allowing him to pass through enemies and cages.
metal cap	Found in a green block and transforms mario into metal mario allowing him to defeat enemies by running into them and and walk underwater.
